Jackson Township Board of Zoning Appeals
It is recognized that not every set of circumstances can be covered in the Resolution, nor is every interpretation of the Resolution by the Zoning Administrator necessarily correct. That is why the Resolution provides for the Board of Township Trustees to appoint a five member Township Board of Zoning Appeals, a quasi-judicial body of the Township. The Zoning Appeals Board hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Resolution.
This Board may also authorize variances from the terms of the Zoning Resolution where, owning to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the Resolution will result in unnecessary hardship. The Board may also grant conditional zoning certificates for the use of land, buildings, or other structures.
For more information regarding the Board of Zoning Appeals see Article 4, Administration.

All questions of interpretation and enforcement is to be first presented to the Zoning Administrator, and that such questions are presented to the Board of Appeals only on appeal from the decision of the Zoning Administrator within twenty (20) days from that decision. Appeals forms may be obtained upon request from the Zoning Administrator. A $400.00 (residential) fee and the completed forms are to be submitted to the Zoning Administrator who will then schedule a hearing with the Board of Zoning Appeals within thirty (30) days of receipt of the form and filing fee.
