PLaces of Interest in Jackson Township
The photo on this page is of the old Greenberry Church, now a Masonic Lodge, located just south of Glancey Corner Marathon Road. About two miles north of the old church sets the Hartman Log Cabin at the intersection of US Route 50 and Aber Road.
Not too far to the east of the church sets the near ruins of a cabin built by country music legend Chet Atkins. This cabin was used as a getaway from the public limelight for Mr. Atkins and some of the biggest country music names of the 50's, 60's and 70's. The old structure is on private property and not open for public inspection.
Jackson Township's character is agricultural with many large farms. The topography being mainly flat to slightly rolling supports large fields of corn, soy beans and winter wheat. Many old homesteds have disappeared with the passing of time, absorrbed into the fields or marked by large old trees and abandoned ponds.
